Why we will not board elderly pets, pets with medical conditions or on medications – STRESS

We recommend in home pet care with Professional Pet Sitting Etc

Dori, the owner, has worked in animal rescue over 3 decades and is also a trainer and behaviorist.

We do not recommend boarding any pet

  • with a health condition
  • that is 10+ years old
  • on medications.

Boarding is stressful for many pets.  Sleeping in a place not their home. Strange smells, sounds, etc.  Stress can and will exacerbate any health issue.

We will not be able to board any pets who fall in the category above but we can offer in home pet care with our other company Professional Pet Sitting Etc.

Keeping pets in their own home environment causes little to no stress.  They will get to sleep in their own bed and we can come for pet care visits.  We can let dogs out for bathroom breaks.  We can give all pets fresh food and water.  Best of all, your pet will be waiting for you whenever you arrive home.

Trial Board Required for all dogs to board

If your dog does not attend our Enrichment Play Daycare Program and has NEVER boarded with us, you will need to make a reservation for a trial 2 day board during the week (Tues-Wed-Thurs only, no weekends or holidays for trial board).  This will consist of drop off morning, stay overnight and pickup next day in afternoon.  Trial Boards are scheduled Tues-Wed-Thursday.  This is classified as two days of board.

Why is this required – simply….for your dog’s welfare and well as all of our guests

    • We required a trial for all dogs for our Enrichment Play Daycare Program to ensure dogs will fit in and this is similar.
    • Boarding is very stressful for all pets and if your dog shows signs of stress, we will recommend in home pet care with our company, Professional Pet Sitting Etc
    • Signs of stress can be anxiety, barking, whining, howling, destructiveness, not eating, etc
    • If one dog is stressed and the other boarders can hear them, then ALL the dogs become stressed.  We want all of our guests relaxed and happy.
    • What if your dog has boarded elsewhere and you were told they were fine
      • other boarding facilities accept many pets and they are okay with stress related issues
      • we do not accept stress related issues as it is not good for YOUR pet and not for any pet HERE
    • If your dog is 100% housebroken at home and is not while boarding, we will suggest in home pet care, this does happen with many dogs
    • Pets that are 9 years old or older, we will recommend in home pet care with our company, Professional Pet Sitting Etc
      • stress is very hard on older pets and can cause many issues that may erupt while you are away or when you return or may be a-symptomatic
      • most pets are more comfortable and do better in their own home environment, in their own beds, sights, sounds and smells.
